Here’s what the 2027 Kia Seltos actually brings to the table.

The Design Finally Matches the Ambition 

The previous Seltos was a solid vehicle. The 2027 is something different. Flush door handles, dark-themed X-Line accents, and a broader, more planted stance give it a presence that doesn’t apologize for being in the compact class. Kia pulled design cues directly from the 2027 Telluride, and it shows. This is a crossover that looks intentional, not assembled by committee. 

Two Powertrains, Both Worth Talking About 

Most compact SUVs give you one engine and call it a day. Kia is giving Seltos buyers a real choice. 

Standard Gas (Expected Summer 2026) 

The base engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder built for smooth, capable daily driving. But the real conversation starter is the available 1.6L turbocharged engine, which puts out 190 horsepower and transforms how the Seltos feels on the move. Paired with AWD and Multi-Terrain Mode in the X-Line trim, that turbo setup makes this compact crossover a genuinely capable machine—not just a commuter dressed up with plastic cladding.

Hybrid with eAWD (Expected Late 2026)

This is the one that raises eyebrows. A hybrid powertrain with available electronic all-wheel drive in a vehicle at this price point is legitimately impressive. The 1.6L hybrid system is tuned for efficiency without sacrificing performance, and eAWD adds a layer of traction control that most buyers in this segment can’t get anywhere near this price point. Inventory will be limited when it arrives. This one will go fast.

The Interior Is Bigger Than the Segment Has Any Right to Expect 

Compact SUVs have a reputation for shortchanging rear passengers. The 2027 Seltos doesn’t.
